コブラの次作、1985年の黒騎士バットでPC-9801を使ってフルカラーCG漫画を発表という開拓者。なお、当時の9801の性能はRGBそれぞれ2諧調ずつの「デジタル8色」だった模様。（いわゆる「フルカラー=24bitカラー」はRGBそれぞれ8bit=256諧調の1677万7216色）

これにより『OVER THE RAINBOW』が寺沢氏自身の筆で完結することは期待できなくなってしまった。 【アニメシリーズ】

An accurate weather forecast can be crucial when deciding on a spur-of-the-moment trip. Unfortunately, all too often forecasts are not available for wilderness locations. 寺沢武一先生…… 最新シリーズでもキレッキレのコブラ節聞かせてくれて、長らく次の更新を待ち続けて居ましたが、とうとうこのエピソードの結末を知る術が無くなってしまった……

寺沢は1955年3月30日生まれ、北海道旭川出身。浪人時代に投稿したマンガが入賞したことをきっかけにマンガ界入りし、1976年に上京してからは、手塚治虫に師事した。手塚プロダクションの“漫画部スタッフ”として所属中に「大地よ、蒼くなれ」で手塚賞佳作入選。1978年に週刊少年ジャンプ（集英社）でデビュー作となる「COBRA」を発表し、同年11月に連載がスタートした。また80年代初頭からパソコンでの創作に着目。1985年、8色のカラーマンガを「BAT」の巻頭で公開。パソコンの進化に合わせ、1992年「タケル」で世界初のフルCGマンガを発表。美麗なCGで世界各国から注目を集めた。近年では、2019年からKADOKAWAのWebマンガ誌・COMIC Hu（コミックヒュー）にて、完全新作エピソード「COBRA OVER THE RAINBOW」を発表していた。
